Long-standing club member Malcolm Keith recently passed away suddenly but peacefully.
Malcolm joined the Croquet club in 2003 following his retirement from a successful career in the marine industry and quickly became involved with helping to manage events and projects within the croquet section. He joined the committee in April 2004 and took a lead role in arranging matches and teams for some of the Golf Croquet Leagues. He became chair of the Croquet Committee in 2008. During his chairmanship he was influential in applying for grants for drainage and irrigation and as a result of this, Watermation installed our present irrigation system in October 2009. In his position as Chair of Croquet he also served on the Management Committee for several years.
Over the last few years his health deteriorated but he still liked to come to mix-ins and play the occasional game whilst he was able to do so. Latterly due to walking problems he was only able to spectate but he always enjoyed a chat with the members and watching the games. He will be much missed.
Malcolm’s funeral will take place on Friday 30th September at 3 p.m. at the crematorium and afterwards at the Woodman’s Arms in Wootton.
Malcolm’s family want to make the ceremony a celebration of his life. The family has asked that those who wish to attend wear whatever they feel comfortable with so there is no need to wear black unless you wish to do so.
