The Association Croquet players at our club hold two internal tournaments each year, in which each player plays each other over a period of a few weeks. Our Spring tournament held over April and May had a very close result, with Jonathan and Pam both ending up with the same number of victories. All tournament games must end in a result, so when in their individual game Jonathan and Pam had ended up exactly level after the three hour time limit was reached, they continued till one player scored one more hoop (‘the golden hoop’). Jonathan scored, and as a result of that single shot he won the competition for on a tied tournament position, the winner of the individual matches is taken into account. Well done to Jonathan, who has retained his title for a second year, shown here with a still-smiling Pam.
